Making Space 2017
9 June - 20 August
2017
Centre of Contemporary Art
66 Gloucester St
Christchurch
As part of The Social's contribution to Making Space, Wells' was the in-gallery studio artist for two weeks. She invited the public to join her in creating rubbings of the pavement in the central city. These rubbings formed the footage for Ōtautahi Automatic. A team of CoCA volunteers then assisted in creating rubbings within the gallery space to produce CoCA Automatic. Finally, a collaborative performance between Wells', sculptor and musician Jason Ware and dancer Julia Harvie was held to end Wells' period in-studio.
Andrew Paul Wood reflects on the exhibition as a whole here.
